REFRACTIVE SURGERY
The clarity of our vision is dependent on the
accurate focusing of light rays upon the retina the retina is the inner lining of the
back of the
eye that is sensitive of light ).but some times because of an
imperfectly shaped eyeball, lens or cornea (the clear front portion
of type eye through which we see), the light rays do not focus
accurately on the retina , thereby result in improper vision. These
focusing error are called "refractive error " and can be of several
types such as myopia (nearsightedness) hyperopic (farsightedness)
or astigmatism (distorted vision)
These error can be corrected by using non-surgical procedure like
glass or contact lenses or surgical procedure like refractive surgery.
What is refractive

surgery designed to correct the refractive (focusing) error in the eye. The surgery works by altering the shape of the corneaso that light rays can be focused directly on the retina . in many cases , the

NOTE :
There are various surgical
procedures like PRK (photorefractive keratectomy), LASIK (laser-assisted in situ keraomileusis),
LASEK (laser epithical keratomileusis), surface ablations 7 phakik
